WEATHER HEADLINES: Messy & Windy Tonight, Cold Returns For The Weekend + Potential Snow For St. Johns & Southeast Newfoundland Early Next Week. More details below. MESSY & WINDY MIX TONIGHT Snow continues to build in this evening. Tonight will be all Snow, but a quick shot for Labrador and the Northern Peninsula with amounts generally in the 5-10+ cm range. For Corner Brook & the Western parts of the Island a quick shot of 5-10 cm of Snow will change to a quick shot of Rain as Southerly winds gusting 80-100 km/h push temperatures above zero late this evening. Central Newfoundland will also see a quick shot of Snow, followed by a change to rain overnight. For the Eastern and Southeastern Newfoundland were looking at mainly or all rain (5-15 mm) on menu for Friday night and into early Saturday morning as Southerly winds gusting 80-100+ km/h funnel through ahead of the cold front. SATURDAY Temperatures drop behind our cold front from West to East across the Island late overnight and through Saturday morning, with a change back to flurries and Snow Squalls setting up along the West Coast with 5-10+ cm locally, continuing with another 5-10+ cm locally on Saturday night. Central & Southeastern Newfoundland including the Avalon & Metro will see a quick shot of 2-5+ cm of Snow fall on the back side of the cold front, as it moves through on Saturday. Well see clearing through the morning in Central & through the afternoon in the East. Labrador looks bright & brisk! SUNDAY Cold air settles in nicely behind our front again on Saturday night, cold overnight lows will lead to cold day-time highs in the -7 to -10 range on the Island on Sunday. A taste of Sun for Central & East with a chance of onshore flurries. Along the South Coast (especially the Burin) and the West Coast, squalls should ease but onshore flurries look set to persist. Labrador looks bright & brisk with highs in the -20 to -25 range. NEXT WEEK Ill be keeping a close eye on a Low(s) which looks set to track through the region next Monday night and into Tuesday. Its still early, but as of now forecast models are projecting a setup which would bring a shot of Snowfall to the Southeast half of the Island, including St. Johns. Its still a long way out, but just a heads up to stay tuned! Have a Great Weekend! Ryan #nlwx
