GENERAL SITUATION : Clouds associated with a frontal system are approaching the island from the south west and will influence weather this afternoon. FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Partly cloudy this morning with few showers over the highgrounds. Cloudy periods in the afternoon with showers more frequent to the west, south and over the central plateau. The showers may be locally heavy at times. The maximum temperature over the central plateau will be between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius and between 28 and 31 degrees Celsius along the coasts. Partly cloudy at night. The minimum temperature over the highgrounds will be about 17 degrees Celsius and between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius along the coastal regions. Wind westerly 20 to 30 km/h gusting to 65 km/h. Heavy swells are affecting the coasts of Mauritius and will persist till this afternoon. At times the swells may enter the beaches especially during high tides.
