WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Another closed low with a trough is impacting our area for today and into tomorrow. Preceding it, a strong marine air push came in yesterday evening and this pushed low clouds in across much of Western Oregon. The exception to that this morning seems to be Josephine County where the clouds are not nearly widely distributed. And, along with the lower clouds, we are seeing some very light showers at the coast and north of Roseburg this morning. Showers are in the forecast for those areas, and we may see a shower or two for the Rogue and Illinois valleys, and east of the Cascades by this afternoon. Thunderstorms may develop this afternoon and evening in Lake County and in Klamath County around the Chemult area, but that is not certain at this time. Pretty low chance for them so left them out of the forecasts and just went with showers. But dont be surprised if you do get thunder over there. What will for sure happen for Klamath and Lake Counties will be another night with frost and freeze warnings tonight. The cold air coming in will cause temps to really drop east of the Cascades and if you have a garden in, you are going to want to protect it. Proof of how cold the air mass is comes in that we are expecting to see some snow showers at Crater Lake and Diamond Lake tonight as the snow levels get down to 5000 feet in those areas. Not expecting much if any accumulation, but it is a cold system for mid June. Tuesday will be sunnier across the air and a touch warmer as the low moves to the east. Might still see a few showers east of the Cascades, especially in the mountains of Lake County. A ridge builds in on Wednesday and this will send the clouds on out, and warm us up back into the 80s quickly. We will be back to the upper 80s on Thursday. What happens after that is still not known for sure. We have low confidence in the picture from Friday out. It does look sunnier regardless now than it did yesterday at this time, but we might also be looking at the possibility of showers and storms developing for the weekend, especially in the mountains. I am changing the forecast to reflect the expected sunnier skies at this point. But, be aware that the forecast for the weekend will likely undergo changes before we get there as the data works out what is most likely to happen.
