[WEATHER] The low pressure area (LPA) that has been lingering within the vicinity of the Philippines has intensified into a tropical cyclone, state weather forecasters said Friday morning. In its 10:30 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed several areas in Mindanao under Public Storm Warning Signal Number 1. They are the following: -Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island -Surigao del Sur -Dinagat Province -Agusan del Norte -Agusan del Sur -Davao Oriental -Compostela Valley Residents in these areas should brace for winds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour (kph) within the next 36 hours.
