WEATHER UPDATE: Monday, August 5, 2013, 9:50 AM Flash Flood Watches remain in effect for parts of north central Arkansas. The area of showers and thunderstorms that has been affecting parts of north central and northeast Arkansas this morning will gradually move off to the east, and most of this activity should exit Arkansas this afternoon. However, additional scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop from this afternoon into this evening. These could occur just about anywhere in the state. There is a chance that a small number of storms could become severe, with damaging winds being the main severe weather threat. The moisture content of the atmosphere is still well above normal, so any big storms that occur will be capable of dropping large amounts of rain over short periods of time. One to 2+ inches in just an hour or two can be expected with the strongest storms.
