WEB PAGE UPDATED:>>>> 9/28/14 : First time teams and trusty veterans went at it hard in todays season opener at the Daytona International Speedway. Todays race was anything but typical with multiple dnfs and cautions and bent sheet metal. The only thing hotter than the 800 horsepower engines where the tempers behind the wheel and the confusion with crew chiefs on pit road. The first 50 laps saw action that included LewwDa leading some laps and RiskTaker having troubles with handling. When and just when you thought you had seen it all their was an incident with the flagman that caused the race to come to a halt and SCMS had to throw the red flag and reset the field. LewwDa and RiskTaker took their cars behind the wall and could not continue due to mechanical issues. With the field reset with 40 to go fans got to see the closest racing and fastest laps all week. SmokeyMacPot got a new SCMS track record that clocked in at 41.831 around this 2 and a half mile race track. The #14 car was pushing Creeker who also clocked in at a blistering 41.850 and also led multiple times today. InkAddict and Flip raced around each other most the day swapping spots up near the front and where very fast as well. Gamerpensfan and NakedRacer also found themselves around each other and running mid pack and seemed to be waiting until the end for a drive to the front. ChuckwagonGravy seemed to prefer riding in the back and waiting until the end as well. With a late race caution it was being set up for a 5 lap dash to the checkered flag with SmokeyMacPot leading the way. Creeker and NakedRacer where running right with him 3 wide at times with Flip, InkAddict and Gamerspenfan in the mix pushing and bump drafting and fighting for every inch on the track. Bump drafting look so sketchy from up here in the booth and drivers where heard complaining all day over the radios about the closing rates and the air around them. None of that seemed to matter in the closing laps because you could throw a blanket over the top 4 or five as the speed and intensity picked up to a nerve wracking level. All fans and crew chiefs could do was watch and hold their breath as this race came down to a chess match at 200 plus miles an hour. When the white flag flew any one of the top 5 could still take the checkered flag with only 2 and a half miles left to get it done. SmokeymacPot was leading and being pushed by the #27 car of NakedRacer when going in to turn 3 contact was made sending the #14 spinning and hitting the wall hard and on fire. This made the rest of the top runners scramble a bit and mixed up the top 3 coming to the flag. It was NakedRacer who took the checkered flag followed closely by Creeker and InkAddict. With Gamerpensfan coming in fourth and Flip rounding out the top 5. ChuckWagonGravy brout it home 6th and SmokeyMacPot finished a disappointing 7th the last car on the lead lap unable to cross the line. NakedRacer was not happy about how the race ended as he said he was content running 2nd. He apologized to the #14 team and said it was just a racing incident and was not on purpose in any way. SmokeyMacPot told CRN after the race he was happy to leave Daytona as he was wrecked in all 3 races this weekend in the closing laps with a chance to win. He said he was not angry personally at anyone and will hold judgement until he see how people race him next week at Phoenix. The #14 was also quoted as saying if he is wrecked next week there will be payback coming to whoever it is. We want to give congratulations to NakedRacer for his win today and his great start to the year winning 2 out of the 3 races this weekend and showing that his new team will be a force to recon with this year. Well folks we will see you all in the desert next week for a short track slug fest with possible payback coming from who knows who?..Tune in at 9 pm. est. next Sunday night for what is sure to be a great race. Here is the finishing order NakedRacer - #27 WINNER Creeker - #5 2nd InkAddict - #11 3rd Gamerpensfan - #24 4th Flip - #18 5th ChuckWagonGravy - #88 6th SmokeyMacPot - #14 7th LewwDa - #42 8th RiskTaker - #4 9th
