WEDNESDAY APRIL 9, 2014 Let this mind be in you,m which was also in Christ Jesus. Php 2:5 SERVING REQUIRES HUMILITY Paul writes: You must have the same attitude that...Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges...took the...position of a salve...humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminals death on the cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names (vv. 5-9 NLT). Being a celebrity often means we expect others to serve us, but being a Christ follower means we are called to serve others. Big difference, eh? Christ modeled servant-hood before His disciples. On the social totem pole, the lowest servant in the house washed feet. Try to picture God washing the feet of common fishermen, then saying, As I have served you, now go and serve one another. Download THAT picture in the next time you view somebody as a burden, or beneath you, or a roadblock to your success. Youll never serve as Christ served if you focus is on building your own image. Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God...began to wash the disciples feet(Jn 13:3-5 NKJV). Jesus had settled three big issues: (1) HE KNEW WHO SENT HIM. (2) HE KNEW WHO SUSTAINED HIM. (3) HE KNEW WHO WAS GOING TO REWARD HIM. Therefore He was liberated from the fear of people, the fear of failure, and the fear of rejection. J.L. Massed said it so well: Service can never become slavery to the one who loves. My Thoughts: NOTHING, AND I WILL REPEAT THIS......NOTHING IS MORE REWARDING THAN TO BECOMING AND BEING A SERVANT. Hollywood mind-set should have NO PLACE in our minds. Oh how we love to sang....To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus. How I long...to be like Him, but the question ARE you being like HIM ! I shatter when I see the lofty posture of so many now days in ministry. Too big to take a few minutes to speak to the ordinary people, but they will gladly take their substance. We MUST BECOME VIGILANT, that we dont forget our true purpose, we are called at all times to remain humble. I always keep before my eyes the day that Jesus rode into the mighty city, and the thrones hailed him and called out....Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna and the next time He was in the same city, and most of the same people called out...Crucify Him, Crucify Him, Crucify Him. None of us should ever forget that the higher up we become, the lower we should become.
