WEDNESDAY BIBLE READING JUNE 5 PSALM CHAPTERS 31 – 35 CHAPTER 31 V1 – 24 speaks about “In thee, OLORD, do I put my trust. A psalm of David Note( v5) Luke 23: 46, Deut. 32: 41, (v6) John 2: 8, (v7) John 10: 27, (v8) Deut. 37: 30, (v11) Is. 53: 4, Job 19: 13, (v13) Jer. 20: 10, Lam. 2: 22, Matt. 27: 1, (v15) Job 14: 5, 24: 1, (v17) I Sam. 2: 9, (v18) 1 Sam. 2: 3, Jude 15, (v19) Rom. 2: 4, 11: 22, (v20) Job 5: 21, Psalm 31 is uniquely composed of two rounds of lament (v1 – 6, 9 – 18) and praise ( v7, 8, 19 -24) The description of David’s plight is so vivid ( v9 – 13), that more than one biblical character relied in subsequent times on its history of stress resolved. Jonah’s prayer echoes verse 6 ( John 2: 8) Jeremiah frequently borrowed the phrase found in verse 13, “fear was on every side” (Jer. 6: 25, 20: 10, 46: 5, 49: 29) and drew on the language of verse 5 for His final words on the Cross (Luke 23: 46).
