WEDNESDAY EVENING WEATHER UPDATE. PLEASE SHARE: WIND CHILL WARNING: For everyone in the WSBT viewing area until midday Thursday. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: La Porte, St. Joseph (IN), Elkhart, La Grange, Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph (MI) from 3pm EST Thursday to 4pm EST Friday. Tonight: Lake effect snow quickly ending. Skies will clear and temperatures will fall very fast (as of this writing at 9:15pm EST, many are already below zero with wind chills around -20°). Snow will blow & drift with west wind 15 to 25 mph. Temperatures fall to around -10° (colder south of US-30) with wind chills as around -30°. Tomorrow: Very cold early with peeks of sunshine. We see clouds move in around midday as an Alberta Clipper system approaches the area. By the afternoon, snow arrives. Temperatures warm into the upper single digits to lower teens. Wind continues to howl 15 to 25 mph. Tomorrow night: System snow. 2-6 of snow expected, with the heaviest amounts in SW Michigan. Lesser amounts south of US-6. Detailed map below. Lows in the single digits with wind chills around -15°. Blowing snow likely. Friday: System snow moves out early, then lake effect snow develops. With a mainly WNW wind, SW Michigan and extreme northern Indiana (mainly north of US-20) will be affected. 1-3 of additional snow likely, with higher amounts under persistent snow bands. Temperatures will be in the lower teens with winds 10 to 20 mph. Friday night: Light lake effect snow, otherwise very cold. Lows around -7°. Winds will be lighter, but will still produce wind chills around -15°.
