WEDNESDAY NIGHT ICU UPDATE: Rhonda has had a good day for the most part. Hannah and I saw her this morning on our way to DC. She looked really good, especially without a tube down her throat. She was able to smile at us, although she still has not recovered her voice. She is still on the ventilator, albeit via the tracheostomy. Her white blood count has come down to 7,000 which is in the normal range, meaning she is responding favorably to the wide spectrum of antibiotics which will continue as a prophylactic measure to prevent further infection. Hannah and I arrived safely on the campus of Gallaudet University around 2:30 PM today. Needless to say DC is totally different from BV. Ill take BV any day. But, Hannah is excited and happy to be here. We had a full afternoon getting registered, student ID, dorm room assignment, unloading and unpacking, Pep Rally, and a BBQ with the GU President that got rained out. So, Hannah and I ate at this really nice Italian Restaurant not too far from the campus. The menu was written in Italian so I had to order for Hannah and I both, just hoping that it would be good. We laughed and laughed and had such a great time together. She is settled in her dorm and I am finally able to start winding down for the evening in my room at the Kellogg Conference Hotel here on the campus of GU. Hannah and I have a full day tomorrow in student and parent orientation. Tre made it safely to South Korea and was preparing for his flight out to his destination in East Asia when I last heard from him. I expect to hear from him at anytime confirming his safe arrival. Thank you for remembering him in prayer as he embarks upon a new adventure in language school and bridge building with other young collegians in an effort to share the greatest story that has ever been told. Rachel recently transferred from the MICU at Roanoke Memorial Hospital to the MICU at Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA. She had her first night shift last night and did really well. I have not spoken with her since this morning but she checks in every day, several times a day on her mother. As you can see it is a very busy time for our family, filled with adventure and exciting challenges and changes that necessitate our full dependance and total reliance upon the Holy Spirit. Rhondas mother text me this evening to let me know Rhonda was wheezing and had to receive a breathing treatment through the trach. The treatment seemed to help and she was resting well when I called my mother-in-law to check in. Thank you for allowing me to share a bit about our day. May you receive a double portion of Gods favor and blessing as you continue to partner with us in prayer for Rhondas complete healing. Good night!
