WEEK 2 UPDATE! Thanks for the hard work this week. Gattaca: What was accomplished this week? This project was double-crewed this week. One crew completed decking repair on the roof and installed a new tin roof. The other crew installed laminate floor in the living room, and painted the bedroom and living room walls. What will be accomplished next week? One crew will remove the second window in the bedroom, which is broken, and close in the wall with siding on the outside, insulation, and drywall on the inside. The other window in the bedroom will be weatherized, and that wall will be painted. Ceiling drywall will be installed and painted. What special tools are needed? Cordless drills and painting supplies. What future projects are there? Fix some drywall in the kitchen and dining rooms. Repair drywall in the bathroom. E.T.: What was accomplished this week? We installed new steps and a handrail off the front porch. We installed drip edge over the front porch that will run into the existing gutter. We installed a downspout for the gutter and also attached it to the porch for stability. Inside the house, we removed and installed drywall on the ceiling. What will be accomplished next week? The ceiling needs a couple more layers of mud and also needs to be painted Star Wars: What was accomplished this week? The steps and railing on the back porch were completed. The ceiling drywall was installed and painted. VCT flooring was installed. What will be accomplished next week? The bathroom floor will be removed so that the group can repair the subfloor and install a new VCT bathroom floor. The windows and doors will be weatherized to make the home warmer in the winter. What special tools are needed? VCT adhesive trowels Inception: What was accomplished this week? We installed rafters from the pony wall to the existing roof, laid down the OSB, and installed mule hide to the new roof. They made reparations to the bathroom floor by removing and reinstalling new joists. What will be accomplished next week? Next week we we will install VCT in the bathroom floor and continue with weatherization in the house Back to the Future: What was accomplished this week? We installed underpinning around parts of the house. We removed and reinstalled drywall in the ceiling that was falling through or missing. In the bedroom, we installed baseboards and finished mudding the drywall seams. The family has said they would like to paint the bedroom. What will be accomplished next week? The project is complete! Ender’s Game: What was accomplished this week? We removed the pipe in the ceiling and reinstalled tin on the bedroom’s roof. The bedroom now has trim around the ceiling, windows, and doors, and one layer of paint. We started laminate floor but still have about 75% of the room left to do. What will be accomplished next week? We will finish the flooring and install floor trim. We will put a second coat of paint on the walls and ceiling. What special tools are needed? Paint supplies Twilight Zone: What was accomplished this week? The installation of the roof covering was completed. The insulation and drywall were hung in the bathroom ceiling, bedroom ceiling, and hallway wall and ceiling. Mud was applied. The holes in the kitchen wall were repaired with new drywall. A dryer vent was installed in the laundry room. The bedroom and bathroom ceiling, and the kitchen and hallway walls were all painted. What will be accomplished next week? The wall of the bedroom is buckling-- the siding will be removed, the studs will be replaced/repaired, and the siding will be re-attached. We will begin replacing flooring in the hallway and bedroom where there is water damage. The X-Files: What was accomplished this week? The remainder of the insulation was installed in the walls and ceiling. Drywall was hung in the bedroom, bathroom, and dining room spaces. The first layers of tape and mud were applied. The crew began to paint the bedroom. What will be accomplished next week? The rest of the addition will be painted, and flooring will be installed. What special tools are needed? Paint supplies Doctor Who: What was accomplished this week? The tarp and siding on the left side of the house was removed. The insulation, blackboard, and rotted windows underneath were also removed. New OSB sheathing was installed, 1 window was replaced while the other was covered up, and new siding was installed. In the back, a new, safe porch was built. What will be accomplished next week? The side porch will be repaired. What special tools are needed? Cordless drills The Matrix: What was accomplished this week? This week we renovated the bathroom and bathroom walls. We removed all the black mold from behind the shower wall, reinforced the studs, and installed a water resistant drywall and FRP board. In the living room, we removed and replaced the drywall on the ceiling and began work on the floors and walls. What will be accomplished next week? In the living room, we will mud and paint the ceiling, do reparations on the floor joists, reinforce the wall studs, and install drywall. In the bathroom, we will weatherize and install trim around the bathroom window. We have several other weatherization projects throughout the house.
