WEEKDAY GOSPEL AND REFLECTION January 22, 2015 Mark 3:7-12 Jesus withdrew toward the sea with his disciples. A large number of people followed from Galilee and from Judea. Hearing what he was doing, a large number of people came to him also from Jerusalem, from Idumea, from beyond the Jordan, and from the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon. He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him. He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases were pressing upon him to touch him. And whenever unclean spirits saw him they would fall down before him and shout, You are the Son of God. He warned them sternly not to make him known. A large number of people with diseases came to and pressed on Jesus for they wanted to be healed of their physical suffering. At times, we find ourselves doing the same thing when we are inflicted with a disease that we cannot handle anymore. And we know that by our faith, God will make a miracle for us no matter how small or big it may be. But faith must not only be manifested during times of crisis. It is lived everyday of our lives and as we entrust our life to God, we learn how to genuinely love our sisters and brothers. Faith is our response to Gods love. We do not have to wait for a big problem to come to us to love God. Love must be rooted in our hearts so that an encounter of God is an everyday opportunity.
