WEEKEND MIRROR: FEAST OF ST. LUKE THE EVANGELIST. We celebrate 2day, THE PATRON OF PAINTERS & PHYSICIANS, Luke who was born at Antioch in Syria. He was a Greek by birth & a physician by profession. ALL DOCTORS, SCIENTISTS, NURSES, MEDICAL PERSONNELS; we greet u all & pray God to bless & strengthen u, amen. More so, Luke was one of d earliest converts to d faith. Later he became d MISSIONARY COMPANION OF ST. PAUL ON PART OF HIS 2nd & 3rd MISSIONARY JOURNEYS. Paul refers to him as the most dear physician & a fellow- labourer. And Pauls Epistles, we learn that Luke was his FAITHFUL COMPANION TO THE END. Priests & Religious a challenge to us, CAN WE ALSO BE FAITHFUL COMPANIONS OF CHRIST TILL THE VERY END? Husbands & Wives, on ur wedding days, u exchanged RINGS(symbol of covenant) & made promises b4 God & his people OF GOING TO BE FAITHFUL LIFE COMPANIONS. How far have u gone & how far do u intend to go(a challenge to u also). My brothers & sisters (unmarried gentlemen & ladies), do u remember d zeal & enthusiasm wit which u all attended catechism classes, received First Holy Communion & Confirmation? CAN U ALSO REMAIN FAITHFUL TO D TEACHINGS OF OUR DOCTRINES, WORD & SACRAMENTS TILL D VERY END(a challenge to u all as well). Brethren, Luke is d author of d THIRD GOSPEL, written b4 d year 63. He also wrote d ACTS OF D APOSTLES. We are therefore called upon this day & always to WRITE A GOSPEL OF JESUS WIT OUR LIVES. Whether d Gospel we write is going to be authentic or not, depends on d kind of life we live. Let us not forget that OUR LIFESTYLES COULD BE D BIBLE SOMEONE SOMEWHERE IS READING.
