WEEKEND RACING; DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY, August 31, 2014 JOSH WELLER POCKETS $3000 IN URC LABOR DAY CHAMPIONSHIP Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA was the hands-down winner of the 25 lap Bar’s Leaks Labor Day Weekend Championship presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway. Weller, driving the Eldreth Construction sprinter led the entire twenty-five distance to pick-up the $3,000 first place prize. Runner-up and current Rislone URC Sprint Series point leader, Davie Franek of Wantage, NJ made several challenges for the lead but Weller used slower traffic to his advantage to hold off the closing Franek. Heat race winners were Kevin Darling and Davie Franek. During heat race competition, Curt Michael, URC’s eight time champion set the Fred’s Trailer Parts fast time of the night. RICKY ELLIOTT MAKES IT “10″ IN SUPER LATE MODELS The 20-lap Super Late Model feature was a good one with the “Wild Child” Amanda Whaley setting a blistering pace from the drop of the green with Herb Tunis and Nick Davis giving chase. Donald Lingo, Jr. was the first car out as he slowed and headed to the pits on lap two. Point leader, Andrew Mullins quickly marched through the top five and was challenging for second by lap six. He would secure the spot on lap later and was followed by Ricky Elliott into third. At the halfway sign the top five were Whaley, Mullins, Elliott, Tunis and Davis. Super Late Model Finish: 1. Holloway Company/AC Delco Night at the Delaware International Speedway. In the Big Block Modified feature, Jordan Watson moved a step closer in contention for the track championship by picking up his third win of the season. Big Block Modified Finish: 1. Tim White jumped out to the lead with Jason Musser second. “Nitro” Nick Sapp held second for a lap before defending champion, Mike Stratton took the spot.
