WEEKEND ROAD INFORMATION FOR 14-15 SEPTEMBER: CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AROUND ENGADINE – Saturday ** Heathcote Road will be closed in both directions between the Princes Highway in Engadine and New Illawarra Road in Lucas Heights between 10am and 4pm on Saturday for a hazard reduction burn. ** Motorists should use New Illawarra Road, Bangor Bypass, River Road, Linden Street, The Grand Parade, the Old Princes Highway, Acacia Road and the Princes Highway instead. ** Motorists should allow extra travel time and expect delays as heavy traffic is expected. CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN THE SYDNEY CBD Saturday and Sunday ** George Street will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Bathurst Street and Park Street until 8am Sunday so the Town Hall refurbishment and clock tower repairs can continue. ** Motorists should allow additional travel time through the area. ** As a result of the lane closures, buses that usually terminate at Town Hall will finish their journeys at George Street Cinemas instead. ** Bus passengers should also allow extra travel time. CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN SURRY HILLS Saturday and Sunday ** Special event clearways will be in place on the western side of Chalmers Street between Cleveland Street and Eddy Avenue from 2am Saturday until 2am Monday to accommodate rail replacement buses at Central. ** Check signs before parking as vehicles left in these clearways will be towed and fees apply. ** The existing taxi zone will be moved to the other side of Chalmers Street. CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN PYRMONT Saturday and Sunday ** There will only be one lane available in each direction on Darling Drive in Pyrmont as the Monorail removal continues. ** There will also be a reduced speed limit of 40km/h. ** Motorists should allow additional travel time and expect delays in the area. CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN WICKHAM, NEWCASTLE Saturday and Sunday ** Stewart Avenue will be closed at the railway level crossing near Wickham Station, between Hunter Street and Honeysuckle Drive, between 4am Saturday and 8pm Sunday, so trackwork can be carried out on the level crossing. ** Motorists are advised to use Maitland Road or the level crossings at Railway Street or Merewether Street instead. ** B-Doubles are advised to use Maitland Road via Mayfield or to travel via Hunter Street, Railway Street level crossing, Albert Street and Branch Street. ** Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and expect delays in the area.
