WEEKEND ROMANCE: OLANNA, WOMEN, ROMANTIC TELEPATHY We were - TopicsExpress

WEEKEND ROMANCE: OLANNA, WOMEN, ROMANTIC TELEPATHY We were watching the poorly and ‘Igbo-memory-disrespectfully’ adapted movie of Chimamanda Adichie’s important novel, HALF OF A YELLOW SUN by Biyi Bandele. And 5 guys we were. When we came to that point where Olanna ‘caught’ Odenigbo and said: “You touched Amala? You touched Amala!”, we lunched into a debate. Our debate/argument was: No matter how smart a guy is with his woman, she (the woman) must definitely know and feel when he is cheating on her – that’s if the guy’s really doing so. About 3 of the guys there agreed that their girlfriends have always called them on phone to ask after them or to ask if they are alone just when they are about ‘doing something’ with other women. They asked “How dem dey take know that thing sef? E get spirit wey dey tell dem say their man wan cheat on dem?” The rest disagreed that it’s a matter of co-incidence and that there’s nothing telepathic about that. I have asked a few women and they said they have a ‘way’ of ‘feeling’ their man’s infidelity when far away from them. I don’t know how many women who feel same as to know if this truly could be telepathic or just a mirage. On the other hand, do men have such feelings because I’ve not heard or seen that men also have a ‘way’ of ‘feeling’ the infidelity of their women when they are far away from each other?
