~WEEKLY SCRIPTURE 01/12/14~ 17 Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” 18 I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work. -Nehemiah 2:17-18 Sermon Series 2/4 World Changers: Leadership A WORLD-CHANGING LEADER: CLEARLY DEFINES THE MISSION - STATEMENT 4 The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven, 5 and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.” -Nehemiah 2:45 CAREFULLY MAKES PLANS 6 Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time. 7 I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah? 8 And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?” And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. -Nehemiah 2:6-8 PASSIONATELY LEADS PEOPLE 17 Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. What plans do you need to carefully make to carry out your mission? What is your next step? Who are some people you will need to carry out your mission? How will you inspire them to action? ~PERSONAL SERMON NOTES~ what breaks your heart probably breaks Gods heart too you dont have to be the best, you just have to care the most most people want to just follow God needs leaders to change the world if youre not talking to God about what youre doing, what youre doing is not big enough if you cant define it, you cant do it *BE SPECIFIC: how? whats your plan? clearly define it when you fail to plan, you plan to fail Christians tend to think the planning process is not spiritual - think again - if you talk to God, pray, work side-by-side with the Holy Spirit, Gods power WILL work in the work you do! simply define the very next step then take it while the world sleeps, the worlds leader the their best work isnt it sad that the American Church is so uninspirational? are we TRULY excited at all Jesus has done for us? light yourself on fire with passion & people WILL come from miles around to watch you burn!! (attributed to Theologian John Wesley 1703-1791) GOD IS WITH US!! Psalm 46: God Is with Us[a] 46 God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. 2 So we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken and mountains fall into the ocean depths; 3 even if the seas roar and rage, and the hills are shaken by the violence. 4 There is a river that brings joy to the city of God, to the sacred house of the Most High. 5 God is in that city, and it will never be destroyed; at early dawn He will come to its aid. 6 Nations are terrified, kingdoms are shaken; God thunders, and the earth dissolves. 7 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. 8 Come and see what The Lord has done. See what amazing things He has done on earth. 9 He stops wars all over the world; He breaks bows, destroys spears, and sets shields on fire. 10 “Stop fighting,” He says, “and know that I am God, supreme among the nations, supreme over the world.” 11 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Footnotes: Psalm 46:1 HEBREW TITLE: A song by the clan of Korah. you are going to have opposition with God all things are possible! Matthew 19:26 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” GET OUT OF YOURSELF & INTO THE SPIRIT OF GOD! God bless & Amen!
