WEIGHT WATCHERS ON THE NHS - Two thirds of the population should be sent to slimming clubs on the NHS, according to official new guidance. Advice from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) says sending obese and overweight people on “lifestyle weight management programmes” will save the health service money. Officials say the cost of funding the 12-week courses run by commercial providers such as Weight Watchers and Slimming World – about £50 a head – will be outweighed by the potential savings to the NHS if Britain can contain it’s obesity problem.
