WELL DONE HILARY - The brilliant defense of the university by demonstrating how it helps the economy has moved the needle in the right direction. I was clapping hands and rejoicing that at least 3000 students will be assured a place until.......it hit me. A bursary! Hmmn did he happen to mention how much the bursary is....hmm wait and see. Then another thought, why not give uwi the money as usual and select the persons based on performance criteria and faculty desired. Why keep it as a bursary for the Ministry to determine who gets and who will not get. Oh oh. Kicking and screaming but at least some progress is made. SMH to think that a cabinet of big people could sit down to decide on this matter and did not have the economic analysis on which to base such a far-reaching decision. There are qualified and highly professional economists in Ministries who would have been more than willing to provide this information. i wonder where they suddenyl found the money from for this and the hospital.
