WELL I AM PROUD KNOW THIS CHILD : ANGAD DARYANI An eye-pad for the blind and much more from this 15 year old _________________________________________________ Angad Daryani has been called a number of things: child prodigy, little genius, the inspiring teenager, but he can best be described by one word—Maker. When a guy builds a Rep Rap 3D printer at the age of 13, you know there is no stopping him. An eye-pad for the blind and much more from this 15 year old: Angad Daryani at TEDxGateway 2013 https://youtube/watch?v=wSVYvUHg4UA HE SAYS... My life has been all about exploration - from my education to the different fields Ive done research and worked in. I studied in a Maharashtra State Board SSC school (Don Bosco High School) till mid 9th grade. Although I did extremely well academically in school, the school and the education system did not encourage my activities as a maker and I did not feel very accomplished in the knowledge I gained through academics and teaching in school. I always felt there was something lacking.Outside of school, I felt I did not know my subjects and concepts at all .*As in school, it was all about rote learning and vomiting out the rote learnt answers in the examinations. This frustrated me to a point where I couldnt take it anymore. Thus after extended discussions with my tutor Mr Vinit Ajgaonkar and my parents , *I decided to leave formal schooling and start Open Schooling . Thus, from mid 9th grade and all through 10th grade, I open schooled at my tutors place for 6-8 hours a day and studied Mathematics, Sciences, English Language, Computer Science, Economics and Business Management. I quit formal schooling. I didnt quit studying and I wouldnt recommend that option to anyone ! 2 years of home schooling (September 2012 to June 2014) changed my life completely. I noticed a change in my understanding of concepts in physics and mathematics and found both of the subjects to be beautiful and interesting. I always loved the sciences because I thought I knew science well (Hypothesis derived after performing well in the subject in SSC school). Apart from that, open schooling gave me a lot of time to pursue my passion - building technology. I worked in the field to such an extent that I got the opportunity to work as a Researcher at MIT India Initiative, Tree Labs at IIT Bombay and work with some of the best mentors and students from all over the world! _I also got the opportunity to present to Industrialist Ratan Tata (from Tata Group) [ 22/8/2013] and also the ex-president of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam [25/10/2013 _]. Moreover, I got to speak at Asias largest TEDx Conference - TEDxGateway [ 8/12/2013] and also at a corporate TEDx event at Hewlett Packard (HP) in Bangalore namely - TEDxHewlettPackardBangalore [23/7/2014] . These are opportunities which not many people my age get and I count myself very lucky to have been exposed to so much at such a tender age. __ Shashi ॐ नमः शिवाय Om Namah Shivaya #ANGADDARYANI #genius #maker #technews #TBT #tbthursday #shashis #thursday #openschool
