WELL WISHES UPDATE: An Update on Three Chiarians *** Abby Bryant, an eight-year-old girl who had her third decompression surgery on July 8, apparently had an allergic reaction to the proline sutures. The surgical site was cleaned and taped shut. Abby will be on heavy antibiotics for the next two weeks. She got her stitches out on Wednesday. They had to place two staples in. Abby had to return to the doctors, which is two hours away, because her site was opening up. *** Joanna Glow will be having an MRI and an appointment with the neurologist on Monday, July 28. They will be looking to see if she had a TIA, which is also known as a mini-stroke. Glow was released from the hospital on Tuesday. She had anti-siphoning shunt surgery on July 14, was discharged on July 16 and was re-admitted on July 18. Glow is not expected to have decompression surgery for three months as her body needs to recover. She had an appointment with her neurosurgeon on Thursday. My meds were changed and my shunt was adjusted from a 10 to 20! Glow told the ICA Newsroom. I will be sick awhile with the adjustment. *** GOOD NEWS! Justin Jones, who had decompression surgery on July 7, continues to do well. Its been over two weeks since my decompression surgery, Jones said. Everything is still going great and Ive been able to step down on the pain meds and sleep through the night. The International Chiari Association (ICA) hopes that both Abby Bryant and Joanna Glow feel better soon. We also wish Justin Jones continued success with his recovery.
