WELS NATIONAL WORSHIP CONFERENCE – Every three years WELS members from all over the US and Canada gather for the National Conference on Worship, Music, and the Arts. This year’s conference, the seventh since 1996, will be held at Carthage College in Kenosha from July 22-25. The four days of the conference are filled with workshops, worship, and fellowship, and over a thousand WELS members have registered. Some of the worship events at the conference are open to the public, and WELS members are cordially invited to attend. All events are held in the 1,700-seat Siebert Chapel on the Carthage campus. July 22 at 2:30 p.m. – Chamber music recital featuring instruments and Canticum Novum, a WELS choir July 22 at 4:15 p.m. – Recital: The Best of Brass and Organ July 22 at 8:00 p.m. – 125 choir and 40 piece orchestra perform the opening Festival Concert. July 23 at 8:45 a.m. – Opening service celebrating the Epiphany of Our Lord July 23 at 8:00 p.m. – A service featuring multiple performance groups entitled Many Voices, One Lord July 24 at 8:30 a.m. – A service celebrating the Baptism of Our Lord July 24 at 8:00 p.m. – Festival Choral Vesper Service as it might have been celebrated in Bach’s Leipzig July 25 at 8:00 a.m. – A service with alternative music celebrating the Transfiguration of Our Lord July 25 at 11:30 a.m. – Closing Service featuring the 90 voice High School Honor Choir and orchestra Arrive early to find parking on the college campus and to hear pre-service music which begins 15 minutes before the services.
