One of these pages is your TVRA page. You will also be aware of the public meeting we are holding on 28 January 2015 as well as the reasons for this namely the lack of Law Enforcement (LE) in our area. On the subject of LE we have been engaging with local government sufficiently to be in the position to report back to the community what the status quo is. When we placed notices of the meeting on the FB forums, both WCAF and myself personally got attacked from all directions and from people who clearly had interests in either TVRA or the CPF, or both. We were labelled as far right, racist, fronting for the FF+, etc. All these comments showed that something is amiss and we are right to pursue the path we are on. WCAF takes an interest in community affairs anywhere in the Western Cape. It so happens that I am resident in the Table View area, hence my keener interest in what is happening here. For this reason I followed up on the story about the refuse truck which was seen loading rubble. This post was removed from the TVRA page without an explanation as to why. I was accused of hijacking the page as well as promoting WCAF. This smacks of discrimination and definitely portrays TVRA as not acting for and on behalf of the residents of Table View. Allow me to quote from your website: Help us to PROTECT and ADVANCE the interests of all ratepayers and residents of the Greater Table View area. Crime is one of our biggest concerns. Through the execution and achievement of our goals we aim to make the area a safer, cleaner, healthier place to live in. Many of our partners are directly involved in the fight against crime, and we believe that our primary activities (planning, infrastructure and service delivery, communication) will have an indirect long term impact on crime. The TVRA is not living up to their aims and goals. If it was it would have welcomed actions from any individual or group who had the same interests at heart. If you differ from me on this observation it will beg the question why TVRA is not being more active in arranging public meetings, asking direct questions, and if not happy organizing protest marches, etc. After all TVRA is saying crime is one of our biggest concerns, yet posts about meetings on LE (crime) are being discredited and posts about alleged unlawful use of provincial property (crime) removed. Is crime your biggest concern or is the most of TVRAs time being taken up by being politically correct? If you think I am out of line I will suggest that you read the comments that are being made on the TVRA and TVNW pages. Feel the concerns of the citizens and ratepayers. Then come back and tell me I am barking up the wrong tree. We know the signs when people are getting fed-up with politically correct rhetoric and safe answers to concerning questions. The locals are getting restless. I have extended an invitation to TVRA to speak on the 28th of January at the meeting. I have not yet had the courtesy of a reply. If TVRA think it is not necessary to attend this meeting it will reflect very badly on you. Likewise if you do not use the offer to address the people. The right of WCAF to call this meeting was also questioned. Now if I was the TVRA, I would be too happy if someone goes to the trouble and expense of arranging a meeting where the residents may have their say and we can work on a plan of action to address community issues. WCAF has already stated its constitutional right to call and hold a public meeting. So, in conclusion I would like to ask the following: Will TVRA attend the meeting and make use of the opportunity to interact with the residents about issues of concern? Why was the post about the use of a council truck to load rubble removed from the TVRA FB page? What is the TVRAs short term strategy around the issues of LE that are blatantly ignored by local government? I look forward to your earliest reply as these matters must also be addressed by the agenda of the 28th. Kind regards DES PALM Chairman
