WEST YELLOWSTONE - The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred near West Yellowstone on Sunday morning. The quake was centered about 23 miles east-northeast of West Yellowstone at about 6:30 a.m. That is about 65 miles south-southeast of Bozeman. The quake was reported at a depth of 4.2 miles. The USGS website reports that people felt the quake in Gardiner, Mont., Jackson, Wyo., and Rexburg, Idaho. Several smaller quakes, ranging from 2.5 to 3.1, were also reported in the region on Sunday morning.
