WESTERN BRONCOS DEVELOPMENT WRAP UP It was a great day at Purtell Park with over 600 people turning up to watch the Western Broncos Development squads take on international competition. The results didn’t all go the way of the Western Broncos Development teams as the opposing teams were formidable opposition. All games were played in great spirit and enthusiasm and the teams all joined together at the end of each match, arm in arm. * U12’s Greenbank Development vs U12’s Arana Development The Greenbank boys were too big and strong for Arana, running out 46 to 8 winners Point-scorers for West Arana Hills U12 Development - Sean Jackman 1 try - Lincoln Giarratano 1 try Point-scorers for Greenbank U12 Development - Riley Fisher 1 try and 1 goal - Peter Jonassen 1 try and 1 goal - Ben Bossons 1 try - Tyron Freeman 1 try - Angus Hegarty 2 tries - Chase Wiedman 2 tries - Calendar Evans 1 try and 1 goal - Drew Morrison 1 goal - William Brown 1 goal * U14’s Emerging Western Broncos vs U14’s Ipswich Brothers Development With only three training session under their belts and a number of U13 players making up the Emerging Western Broncos U14 squad, the EWB boys played hard and gave everything but were outgunned by Ipswich 24 to nil Point-scorers for Ipswich Brothers Development U14 - Brandon Tryhorn 1 try and 1 goal - James McEwan 1 try - Chris Tanuvaso 2 tries - Matisua Pita 1 try - Taj Hinton 1 goal * U14’s Western Broncos Development vs U14’s QLD Samoa Scheduled opponent Cook Islands were a late withdrawal with QLD Samoa U14 stepping in. Samoa were coming off a 84 to nil thrashing of Tonga and holding the Titans development squad to a draw. The WBD U14 were within striking distance at halftime, but Samoa were too experienced for the Western Broncos Development boys, running away with the game in the second half to win 42 to 12 Point-scorers for Western Broncos Development U14 - Dezja Pene 1 try - Finn Leboutillier 1 try - Hoani Ford-Stevens 2 goals Point-scorers for QLD Samoa U14 - Kiu Tuigamala 1 try - Prezley Vaoiva 2 tries - Nathan Tivalu 1 try - Auston Puhotau 1 try - Chanel Bernard 1 try - AJ Sausoui 1 try - Nicholous Niu 7 goals * U16’s Western Broncos Development vs U16’s QLD PNG In a tough grinding match that ended with PNG throwing everything at WBD U16 in the last 10 minutes. But the WBD boys were thrilled to win this nail biter 14 to 12. Big boys, big hits and a great game of football.
