WH Squires play part in a very special Kensham Park day WH Squires became an important ‘first’ at Kensham Park on the first Saturday of July when they became the inaugural; match sponsors bringing a party of 28 to enjoy the best match day hospitality the club could dish up. It proved to be a resounding success, so much so that a sponsorship was booked on the day for a match – next season! The party were treated to tea and a post match supper of a cold meat platter with meats, home-made scotch eggs and quiche together with a sweet table of home made trifle, gateaux and pavlova’s. Post match the sponsoring party organiser was presented with a framed picture in appreciation of their sponsorship by club vice-chairman Paul Nott. The sponsors also presented to visiting player Trevor Anning the Man of the Match award for his runs, wickets and splendid run-out throw. The ‘icing’ on the cake for the package was the production of a match day score card carrying the match sponsor details and the two teams in action. Oh yes, and there was one particular ‘unseen hero’ on the day – Donna Birley spent six hours cooking up the two sponsor meals – nice one gal. Last, but defiantly not last, a mention to dear old Eddie Andress who did bar duty from 12.30 right through to the last knockings – Eddie is a true legend of BCC and his shift for the cause on such a great day for all at BCC underlined why!
