WHAM! CRASH! BOOOOM!! You hear a loud ringing in your ears that drowns out all other sound. You see solid white and youre confused about what just happened and where you’re at. As the ringing fades in your ears the bright white begins to transition to color. Eventually you can make out shapes and you realize your laying facedown in the middle of the street bleeding out. You try to stand up but you quickly collapse to the payment because both of your feet are broken. You realize your motorcycle helmet has come off and your bleeding from the top of your head. There is a car smashed up in the middle of an intersection and your wife lay against the curb holding her femur and bleeding from her face. It’s all surreal. Life can change in a instant. One minute your on your way to Walmart and the next your in a hospital bed with titanium in your body. Life doesn’t care if you’re a US National Champion of Parachuting with over 10,000 parachute jumps, an Army Airborne Ranger or that you’ve helped pioneer a sport. Your life can change in a blink of an eye. The uninsured driver that hit us has turned our lives upside down. The accident ripped up our bodies and put us in the hospital with multiple surgeries. We required titanium rods & plates to repair our broken femurs & feet. The total cost of this accident is still adding up but the impact will run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The hospital bills are already over $200,000 and there is still the financial strain of day to day living expenses. We cannot work or take care of each other due to our injuries. Through our team of attorneys we have learned we’ll be unable to sue the uninsured driver for any money to pay hospital bills & such because the young driver has little money (she couldn’t even afford car insurance) or any assets and is considered “Judgement Proof” by the State of Texas. To make things worse, me & my wife didnt have health insurance and were self-employed. We only had the state required minimum liability insurance on the scooter we were driving (small moped type motorcycle for downtown use) and this coverage did not include any personal liability insurance. We are VERY thankful for the people who have already pledged their support to our fundraiser but we still need your help & assistance now.
