More about Challenge Gobie Foundation: Mr. Alan Gobie founded this charity about 6 years ago, with a vision to assist Belizeans in need of financial assistance for medical reasons. While we have helped quite a few people over the years, we are currently involved in our first big project which is very dear to our hearts – the brand new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the KHMH. This much needed unit will be a great benefit to the children of Belize. Sick children, including those with cancer will be able to receive treatment in Belize and the burdens placed on families who have to take their children to Mexico and the US for treatment will be lessened significantly. This project is spearheaded by Kim Simplis’ Special Envoy for Women and Children in collaboration with OAK Foundation and the Ministry of Health. We have pledged to raise One Million dollars towards this very worthy cause. This year’s “challenge” for Gobie is to do the Bike Ride wearing a bulldog outfit. He challenges people to sponsor him by betting money (all of which goes to the foundation) on how many miles they think he can complete wearing the outfit. Let us know if you would like to sponsor Gobie! More about the Bike Ride The first Bike Ride was from San Ignacio to Big Creek. The anticipated ride time was 12 hours. However it was done in 9 hours and 45 minutes. Apart from Gobie, a group of his co-workers also completed the ride. It started at 4:00 a.m. on January 20th 2008. The second and third Bike Rides were from Spanish Lookout to Big Creek and back to the Roaring River Golf Course in Camalote. The fourth Bike Ride was from Big Creek to the Roaring River Golf Course in Camalote. Over the years, more people (both professional and non-professional cyclists) have joined the ride. In the interest of having everyone complete the ride we have reverted to doing just a one-way ride. The fifth annual Bike Ride was done on February 16th 2013 and was from the Corozal Border to the Roaring River Golf Course in Camalote and took about 13 hours. Also our Bank Account details are as follows: Challenge Gobie Foundation Scotiabank Account # 4060895 SPANISH LOOKOUT Branch. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions or would like more information. We really appreciate your help and support! Thanks! challengegobiefoundation@gmail
