WHAT A DAY TODAY! I went out this morning to buy some hard wood 2 by 4 and 2 by 3 for some roofing that I had been delaying. After settling the price and paying up, I left the carpenter to accompany the delivery truck. When the items arrived my premises, i found that ALL the wood being delivered were now soft wood that are unsuitable for roofing. Not only that, there was not a single 2 by 4 or 2 by 3! Every piece of wood in the truck was 2 by 2, a dimension quite unsuitable for roofing! Imagine my steamy reaction! And then the stories started coming: oh 2 by 2 is good, yes soft wood is best for roofing! Of course the carpenter was in on it and was willing to compromise my roof for the peanuts who was going to get from the wood seller! Chai, damn cheats always looking to con. Of course, I would have none of it. I had all that turned back and the right specification duly supplied. Imagine what would have happened if I was not vigilant! Little wonder houses keep collapsing left, right and center! Meanwhile i spent the entire day talking and scolding before i finally got value for my money! Time I would have used for better things!
