WHAT A TRANSFORMATION! All of the dogs that come into the rescue - TopicsExpress

WHAT A TRANSFORMATION! All of the dogs that come into the rescue are special, but some are just so much more touching than others - perhaps because of everything they overcame. The photo on the left was Trooper when he entered Orange County Animal Services. He was a police confiscation due to cruelty and neglect, he was covered in urine and feces, emaciated, infested with fleas, and terrified. Emotionally he was the most fearful and shut down dog we have ever taken into the rescue. His sister did not survive the neglect, and Trooper is lucky to be alive. If the neglect had not killed him, he was already pulled for euthanasia and offline when we were contacted by a volunteer to consider him. His story was heartbreaking, and the fact that he was not even a year old and had already been through so much was even more so. So we agreed to take him, sight unseen, not sure of whether we would be able to save him or not. The photo on the right is Trooper now, he has made a complete turn around both physically and emotionally and is even eligible for adoption! This guy still has moments of shyness, but is such a pleaser and will eagerly learn and become such a loyal member of any family. We want to see Trooper find a permanent home that will guarantee he never sees neglect or cruelty again as long as he lives. He still needs basic obedience training but catches on more and more every day as he spends time in a foster home learning. He has NEVER been aggressive, despite his fear and background - the day I met him he cowered and shook like a leaf, but allowed me to pick him up and put him on the seat of my car without a snarl or snap whatsoever. He is a ridgeback mix, medium sized only around 40 lbs or so. He is young, about a year old, and very playful and friendly. He LOVES other dogs and is sweet with children. He is neutered, current on all vaccines, has been dewormed multiple times, is current on flea and HW prevention and has a microchip. His adoption fee is $75. Please help Trooper find the forever home he deserves, one that will love him forever. He might be plain, he isnt big - but he has the biggest heart and will certainly be the most loyal and grateful dog to any family.
