WHAT ABOUT THE FOLLOW-UP QUESTION? For nearly three years, - TopicsExpress

WHAT ABOUT THE FOLLOW-UP QUESTION? For nearly three years, after Assad presided over the deaths of over 130,000 of mostly his countrymen and women, he was finally questioned by a liberal media person about it in an interview last Sunday. This farce harkens back to the old communist days When communist tyrants were questioned about the unarmed resistance or uprising by the masses that they had to put down with brutal force. Then there is this touchy-feely and empathetic moment in the interview by the liberal media person listening attentively, as the butcher explained how he felt the pain of the people he just slaughtered and how their families had his heartfelt sympathy etc., and there was never a follow-up question. But back to Assad’s interview. During the touchy-feely and empathetic moment, Assad said, and I paraphrase, that he feels the pain of the people and this pain is felt by his whole family. The same people he dropped barrel bombs on and gassed so as to kill them and their ambitions. And that he doesn’t know how to explain the war to his kids, this war against “terrorists”, fooling himself that a majority of the so-called “terrorists” is not engaged in an armed resistance and revolt by a group of legitimate Syrian men known as “the rebels”, to his tyrannical rule that deprived all the Syrian people and them of a decent life. The follow-up question ought to have been about that, whether his tyrannical rule could have contributed the “terrorism”? And if young men were given a chance to live like him, a job, good education, to raise a family and so on and so forth, and their rights protected by the State rather than subjected to a Police State, would they choose “terrorism”?
