WHAT AN UPSIDE DOWN WORLD we live in when these three get branded too moderate for the Republican Party, for daring to call compassion a good thing (not liberal) for saying we ought to have a kinder gentler America (sounds too liberal) and for saying we must CLOSE THE GAP OF HOPE. (Rush Limbaugh branded that as actually too liberal for a Republican president). The hard right immolated Colin Powell. They initially blasted Laura Bush, wondering if she had turned liberal. The Tea Party are idiots. Laura Bush is not a liberal, she just happens to believe in a lot of the same positive ideals that liberals believe in. Pro-choice, womens health, teachers unions, literacy, and an affirming America that embraces inclusion and EQUALITY in marriage. Republicans REFUSED to invite either former president Bush to their national convention in Tampa. In four years they will get another chance. How ironic that President Obama has show better sportsmanship and courtesy toward the former Republican Presidents than Republicans do. Obama has shown courtesy and dignity towards his predecessors, has maintained a low key, yet surprisingly public FRIENDSHIP with GWB and with Laura, despite the known disagreements over policy. It makes me respect our president, Barack Obama, even more. SHAME ON TODAYS REPUBLICAN PARTY.
