WHAT ARE WE UP TO in our NEURO-ENDOCRINOLOGY PAGE? We cannot - TopicsExpress

WHAT ARE WE UP TO in our NEURO-ENDOCRINOLOGY PAGE? We cannot possibly make this page a complete rendering of all the spectacular and provocative new research which arises on a daily basis, but by the same token our choices for posting here will most definitely NOT be random or haphazard. (NOTE: if you like our page, feel free to invite friends to LIKE it as well...) There are underlying philosophy of science and epistemological considerations behind what we present and there will, hopefully, be a unified and coherent vision that will emerge from the various postings here. We believe that the neuroscientists and endocrinologists of our time are mired and entrapped in an outdated underlying and tacit set of practically medieval assumptions which make it nearly impossible for the language they use to speak about the brain and its events to ever benefit from all the wondrous technologies and findings in their research. Despite all that knowledge we, as a society and as professionals have accumulated in seeking to improve our wisdom, are as lost as ever in the complexities behind the workings of our mind. The three key words for which we hope to find the appropriate factual referents in the massive upheaval in neuroscience technology and, thus, knowledge that we see today will be MEMORY, IDENTITY and EXPERIENCE. The term of EXPERIENCE is basically a magic notion without reference that we simply glide over as we speak. It is...at present...nothing more than a notion of convenience to allow us to keep speaking till we reach the end of our statement...but it disappears from our attention as soon as its syllables have been uttered..and recede back into the darkness of our tacit presuppositional framework to haunt us the next time we need to speak about Memory or Identity or a whole slew of other psychological terms. Hopefully, also, the rather radical view towards which we are headed will be interesting to most readers and give rise to digging further into all the research linkss (and full text articles) we post and then, as well, to thought ...if not always to agreement. Perhaps occasionally to puzzlement We cannot remain content with only MedPage or MedExpress or other often all too glib summarizations of key research and so we will not only comment on those journalistically licentious posts but also provide the requisite links to the actual research work and, if possible, frequently refer to the reader to other publications which help clarify the primary post of interest. OK. We must link the video below.. Here, at the outset of our meditations as we work through this evolving notebook of key and tantalizing discoveries, is the video which captures our spirit (I have the same outfit) https://youtube/watch?v=VtvjbmoDx-I And here is our credo, co-opted from our friend, Descartes, more than 400 years ago, at the outset of his Meditations: Some years ago I was struck by the large number of falsehoods that I had accepted as true in my childhood, and by the highly doubtful nature of the whole edifice that I had subsequently based on them. I realized that it was necessary, once in the course of my life, to demolish everything completely and start again right from the foundations if I wanted to establish anything at all in the sciences that was stable and likely to last. But that task looked an enormous one, and I began to wait until I should reach a mature enough age to ensure that no subsequent time of life would be more suitable for tackling such inquiries. This led me to put the project off for so long that I would now be to blame if by pondering over it any further I wasted the time still left for carrying it out. So, today I have expressly rid my mind of all worries and arranged for myself a clear stretch of free time. I am here quite alone, and at last I will devote myself sincerely and without reservation to the general demolition of my opinions. Anyone browsing our page is invited to post a suggestion as to articles/links/research/etc which we will surely be eager to re-post in the main body of the Page. We are just learning how this Page stuff works. And please feel free to agree or disagree, but ONLY with some supporting reference that you can share with us and our readers.
