WHAT ARE YOU COVERING? “He covereth his sins shall not prosper; - TopicsExpress

WHAT ARE YOU COVERING? “He covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy”. Proverbs 28:13. Man’s inclination for cover-ups is legendary. Whenever something goes wrong, the first thing that occurs to an average individual is to make excuses or do whatever is within reach to avoid the attendant shame and embarrassment. We first see this sign in Adam and Eve. They ate the fruit which God told them not to; so they found themselves naked. (Obedience is the real covering that we have with God). What did they do? They tried in vain to cover themselves with fig leaves. God knew that would not do the job. We later read of Moses who slew the Egyptian, having fooled himself that no one saw him. He tried to cover his track by burying the man single-handedly. The cover-up lasted only 24 hours! Two other Old Testament characters can be cited here. Achan took of the accursed thing and hid it within his tent. Gehazi had under false pretense obtained money and clothing from Naaman. The cover-up hardly lasted one hour. In the New Testament, Ananias and wife, Safirah comes to mind for their cover-up of the true proceeds from the sale of their landed property. One thing is clear from all these cases; that is, none of them really succeeded in covering up their evil deeds permanently. This is confirming the sentiments expressed in Scriptures, that your sins will find you out. There is only one way to have sins and wrongdoings taken off; it is by the shed Blood of Jesus. His Blood does more than cover; it cleanses and closes the case. As far as wrongs are concerned, there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed eventually. Even if one plays the smart Alec and is able to cover his track for a while, such a person will be under closed heaven because “he that covereth his sins shall not prosper”. What are you hiding???? What are you covering???? Remember there is nothing hidden that shall not be made open- Luke 8:17, 12:2; Matthew 10:26; Mark 4:22
