WHAT ARE YOU FEELING? I am asking you all to get inside - TopicsExpress

WHAT ARE YOU FEELING? I am asking you all to get inside your own sensation. I ask you: What do you feel? Well, sensation consists of tingling. Now to define what tingling is - tingling consists (we might say) of a grain of sand and a bit of space and then a number of grains of sand and a number of bits of space between them - all moving. Object and space. Object and space. Its the space in the sensation that this meditation aims to get you into. Youve got to be able to get to where there is no relationship in your body, no tension, no relationship, no strain, so that you are down to where you can actually feel the sensation, the tingling, the bits of sand and the bits of space, all moving at the same time. The object of this meditation is for you to get so still that you go through the sensation into the space. Because space is the equivalent of the eternal mind. Youre trying to get into the eternal mind that never moves; then even sensation disappears. Then anything can happen. You are pure space. Youre in the timeless. Time consists of the pieces of sand. When you are in the pause between words, in the pause between the ticks of the clock, you are in the timeless. It is the tick that is the time and the pause that is the timeless. The scientists tell us that the floor or the earth that we walk on is made up of innumerable atoms moving in space. We can walk on the floor because our body is also made of similar atoms. What were endeavouring to do is get through the floor by getting into our sensation. Im asking you to sink through the floor of yourself. Can you be still enough? Can you get so still that you can actually sink through the floor of yourself into the space between your own atoms? The answer is: Yes, you can. You are consciousness, and consciousness is so fine it can sink through anything. When you get into that space which is the eternal mind, anything can happen. You are an individual then. You are unique. But you must not try to reach that state. You may get the feeling of expansion. Sometimes people get the feeling of weight - weight without heaviness - just a feeling of incredible weight. Sometimes theres a feeling of levitation - not as the physical body (I dont mean to present that idea to you) - but a feeling of floatiness. All these things happen, or might not happen, as you enter into greater stillness. Extract from the Barry Long book title: Stillness is the way (pp 53-54)
