WHAT I LEARNED IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE THIS WEEK: *No team has ever gone thru the last16 after losing 2-0 at home in the first leg..that record played in Bayern and Barcelonas favour as Arsenal and Man city had to bow out. *Despite puting in a spirited performance and keeping their gud away record to Germany,a 1-1 draw was not enough for Arsenal as Bayern went thru with a 3-1 aggregate thou Thomas Muller missed a late penalty. *On the same tuesday night Atletico were on a rampage as they thrashed AC MILAN by 4 goals to 1..adding on the 1-0 win at The San siro last month,Diego Costas double,Arda Turan and Sergio Garcias goals meant Atletico went to the Quarter finals with a 5-1 aggregate..Diego Costa scoring 3 of those 5 goals. *Man city went to the Nou camp with the same task their country men Arsenal took to the Alianz Arena,over turning a 2-0 deficit..but their hopes were shattered as the same players who scored at the Etihad,did it again in similar fashion..MESSI With the opener and Alves with the second..Vincent Kompany also managed to find the back of the net..but that was not enough as Barca cruised into the Quarter finals with a 4-1 aggregate. *Edin Dzeko was denied a clear penalty which saw Pablo ZABALETA get a second yellow after complaining and he was shown a Red card..meaning city received two Red cards in two games against Barcelona. *A lot was expected from Sergio Aguero but the Argentine was not at his best as he pulled off with injury and was replaced by Edin Dzeko who was impresive on the night. *On the same wedneysday night Paris Saint Germain were too gud for 10-man Leverkusen as a 2-1 win resulted in a 6-1 aggregate..tho Leverkusen missed a penalty. ANALYSIS: All the home teams were carrying an advantage into the 2nd leg..Bayern and Barcelona had a 2-0 lead over Arsenal and Man city respectively while Atletico Were carrying a 1-0 lead over Ac milan..and PSG had a 4-0 lead over Bayer04..so the games were half-way done..we were expecting miracles from the visitors..but it even turned to worse as they were all beaten again..except Arsenal who managed to hold the defending champions to 1-1 draw at the Alianz Arena. *A total of 2 penalties were awarded and both were missed. *A total of 2 red cards were shown..both against the visitors(Man city and Leverkusen) #younggunnerxclusiv
