WHAT IS A PUPPY MILL? A commercial dog breeding facility. If you buy a puppy from a pet store or an online kennel or anyone listed on Craigslist, this is where they come from. Its a dark life of neglect and abuse, poor food, no vet care. They often live in crates or kennels with no heat in the winter, no relief from the heat in summer, no flea treatments or anything that might cost a little money. When they outgrow their breeding years or get sick, they are killed or dumped by the roadside or in a shelter. When we say ADOPT DONT SHOP it is not because we dont like purebreds. It is because we want to stop this industry by eliminating customers. NEVER buy from a pet store. Thoroughly investigate a breeder. An ethical breeder will let you see where the puppies are born and raised. If they are not open door you can bet they are hiding something. Dont trust that pretty website - anyone can fake it by posting stock photos of happy, pretty dogs. Behind the scenes its like this photo - and often much worse. ADOPT DONT SHOP.
