WHAT IS YOUR NETWORTH? Ordinarily, many talk about networth, but I insist only few know what it stands for. Simply, it is the left over of what you have, usually materially, after you have deducted all you owe from what you own. It is not uncommon to see many people swanking about as big men in our context here but who are mere carcasses or empty rich. To push home the point: the celebrated American property developer and businessman, Donald Trump who is alleged to worth hundreds of millions of dollars, was reported to have seen a tramp begging with a bowl on the streets of Manhattan. He looked straight at the man and retorted I suppose you probably have a greater networth than me. His remark was from an acute awareness that, at the time he was purported to have had his property empire mortgaged several times over. His wealth was an illusion based on debt. Friend, May I ask you: what is your networth? In calculating it, also include the non monetary wealth( relationship, spiritual, emotional assets etc). Are you owing people more than you think you possess or what your life is presently indexed upon? Ruminate on this in the new year and it will guide you in making appropriate assessment of yourself , where you are vis a vis where you think you are. I wish you a happy and reflection -full new year.
