WHAT JUST HAPPENED? The Friday night run was well supported again last Friday, and a good few members stayed afterwards and socialized around the clubhouse. SUNDAY TRAINING – What an awesome start to the season, helped on by perfect Spring weather. Nippers, juniors and seniors all actively having a great time in the surf. WHAT’S UP THIS WEEK? FRIDAY AFTERNOON – Gather at the club at about 5pm, for either a run along the promenade (bring running shoes) or a bit of a surf on craft if the surf is good. The club bar will be open for refreshments afterwards. FRIDAY NIGHT – We did schedule having a folk club, fund raising evening for this coming Friday night but this has been postponed to a later date (watch this space). Our resident musician’s LIQUID STEEL will probably still play at the club from about 7pm onwards, and just have a casual evenings entertainment with no charge. Feel free to stay after the run, bring along some friends, and just hang out. NIPPERS – Nipper lifesaving training as usual on Sunday from 08h30 – 10h30. Be there to take out craft etc, by 08h15. SUNDAY MORNING – Training as usual. Be here at 8am to take out craft. Following from the Competition Director Trevor Martin See attached calendar for events taking place over the next 4 months. Rock up & Race series - 1st event 15th September @ Durban Surf. (See Poster attached) We want as many of our members to please participate in these events so please make an effort. FROM THE KITCHEN – Bella and Boo Natural Frozen Yoghurt will be on sale at the club this weekend. Marine are the first outlet to be selling their FRO-YO in a cup and would love to test the market by seeing which flavours and sizes the Marine Nippers prefer. They’ve given us a 375ml Vanilla Cup, selling at R18, to get the ball rolling. We think that’s a lot of FRO-YO for 1 person....so would love your input while the lovely people at Bella and Boo work on a smaller option for us. The Chairman Dave Rees is appealing to everyone to try and help sell advertising for this magazine. Even if it is just the strap at the bottom of an editorial page which sells for R500. Please do try and sell something as this should be quite easy to do as the life of the magazine will be a couple of years at the very worst as it is intended as a coffee table mag which will be kept. I assure you the editorial is top quality and will have lots of pics both old and modern. We thank all the members that have contributed towards the content of the 50th magazine. The editor is busy with compiling what is going to be a quality publication depicting the clubs history We intend going to print during the month of August.
