WHAT SHOULD BE OUR GREATEST DESIRE IN LIFE? IT SHOULD BE THE WORD OF GOD. Psalm:19:8-10:The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure {and} bright, enlightening the eyes. The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb. THE WORD OF GOD IS TO BE TREASURED ABOVE ALL THINGS IN LIFE. Job:23:12 I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed {and} treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. WHERE WE LAY OUR TREASURE WILL DETERMINE WHERE OUR HEARTS FOCUS ON. Matt:6:19-21: Do not gather {and} heap up {and} store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust {and} worm consume {and} destroy, and where thieves break through and steal. But gather {and} heap up {and} store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust {nor} worm consume {and} destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. THE MORE WE DESIRE THE WORD OF GOD, THE MORE THE WORD OF GOD RESHAPE OUR LIVES TO CONFORM TO WHOM WE ARE IN CHRIST. Psalm:119:11 Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You. 119:103-105: How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. THE WORD OF GOD SAID, MY PEOPLE PERISH FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. THAT IS WHY WE ARE IMPLORED TO PUT OURSELVES TO STUDY. 2Tim:2:15 Study {and} be eager {and} do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing {and} accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth. WHATEVER SITUATIONS OR CIRCUMSTANCES WE MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH IN LIFE, THE SOLUTION TO THEM WILL ONLY BE FOUND IN THE WORD OF GOD. Psalm:107:20 He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit {and} destruction. THE WORD OF GOD IS MORE RELIABLE THAN ANY MEANS THE WORLD MIGHT PRESENT TO US. Psalm:119:89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [stands firm as the heavens]. THE REASON WHY WE CAN RELY, TRUST, CLING, ADHERE, ON THE WORD OF GOD IS THAT GOD CAN NOT LIE. Numbers:23:19 God is not a man, that He should tell {or} act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance {or} compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good? Isaiah:55:10-11:For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please {and} purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. HAVING THE WORD OF GOD STORED IN OUR HEARTS WILL MAKE US TO BE AHEAD OF THE WILES AND SCHEMES OF THE ENEMY OF OUR SOULS. THE WORD OF GOD IS THE ANTIDOTE TO THE PLANS OF THE ENEMY. Psalm:119:98-100: You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for [Your words] are ever before me. I have better understanding {and} deeper insight than all my teachers, because Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, because I keep Your precepts [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying them]. AS A TRUE BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN, THE WORD OF GOD SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE HIS PREEMINENCE IN EVERY AREA OF OUR LIVES ENDEAVOUR. THE WORD OF GOD IS A SPIRIT, AND THE BIBLE MADE IT KNOWN TO US THAT AS MANY THAT ARE LED BY THE SPIRIT ARE THE SONS OF GOD. John:6:63 It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life. Rom:8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. WHO IS THE WORD OF GOD? THE WORD OF GOD IS OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST CHRIST, AND HE IS THE EMBODIMENT OF ALL WHO GOD IS TO US. John:1:1-5: IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made {and} came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it]. IN CONCLUSION, IF THERE IS ANYTHING WE SHOULD DESIRE IN LIFE, THAT SHOULD BE THE WORD OF GOD, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, FOR IN HIM ALONE WE CAN FIND THE SATISFACTION OUR SOULS ARE CRAVING FOR.
