WHAT THE RESURRECTION REALLY MEANS There are certain days on the calender that we attach special meaning to. We emphasize the historical and theological meaning of those days, and many times we celebrate the symbolic meaning, but we frequently miss the practical meaning. On a practical level, what does the resurrection of Christ mean for me, and you ? That we dont need to be afraid of death because Jesus replaced hopelessness with certainty. Turn to 1Corinthians 15:25-26, and it says, For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. This is not a chronological sequence of events, and no specific time for these events is given. Pauls point is that the resurrected Christ will conquer all evil, including death, amen, know isnt that some good news! We can trust everything that God says because Jesus replaced doubt with confidence! 1 Corinthians 15:51-57 affirms that, for it says. But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, i the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? I can live life with confidence and expectation because Jesus is alive. In 1 Corinthians 15:58 Paul tells us this when he says, So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. Sometimes we become apathetic about serving the Lord because we dont see any results. Knowing that Christ has won the ultimate victory should affect the way we live right now. Dont let discouragement over an apparent lack of results keep you from doing the work of the Lord enthusiastically as you has opportunity. Jesus resurrection holds so much for his followers, truth that can change your life, now and forever! God bless you my brothers and sisters. In much brotherly Love, Pastor Jim.
