WHAT TO DO IN YOUR PRAYER Cast your burden on the Lord and He - TopicsExpress

WHAT TO DO IN YOUR PRAYER Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (Psalm 55:22). The common expression about the Lord not putting more on you than you can bear is well-intentioned, but slightly off. He has no qualms whatsoever in asking you to do things beyond your abilities, to bear burdens above your capacity, to exceed your personal limits. All of that, of course, is to stretch us in ways and areas where we have become stunted. The thing to do when you find your knees buckling under the load is to bend those knees all the way to the ground. Now, seek Him. Give Him those burdens. It is no sin to say, Father, I cannot do this. I am not adequate for this. It is in fact an indication of your strength. He knows. Your admission is no surprise to Him. He was waiting just to see that attitude and hear those words. (See 2 Corinthians 12:9.) We must not allow our pride to build barriers between us and our Lord. It will, you know. People say, If I did not seek the Lord in good times, He would be offended if I sought Him now that things are tough. Wrong. Way wrong. Call upon me in the day of trouble, God says, and I will deliver you. (Thats Psalm 50:15) It could be the very reason He has allowed trouble into your life is to drive you to Him. Many a believer has made that discovery. I love the promise He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (our text for today). As someone teased, Stirred maybe, but not shaken. So, come on. Whats troubling you today? Give it to Him. The old song says, Bring your burden to the Lord and leave it there. The way I do it, one man counseled a friend, is to think of a conveyor belt--or an escalator--going up from me. I imagine my troubles as packages which I load onto the belt and send to God. Later, his friend said, What do you do when the packages keep falling off? I keep getting them back. The first man said, That happens for all of us. So, you keep putting them on it until they finally disappear.
