WHATS HAPPENING AT THE CAM TONIGHT? ART 21: Art in the Twenty-First Century Thurs. Oct. 30 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm “Legacy” Free and open to the public cameronartmuseum.org/index.php?c=program Cameron Art Museum continues its participation as a screening host for season seven of the Peabody Award-winning PBS series ART 21: Art in the Twenty-First Century (art21.org/season7/) , the longest-running television series on contemporary visual art and artists in the United States. The third in the four-part series is “Legacy” facilitated by artist Gabriel Lovejoy and featuring artists Tania Bruguera (arte útil, art used as a tool for social and political empowerment), Abraham Cruzvillegas (sculptures and installations) and Wolfgang Laib (sculptures connecting past to present), examining the use of life experiences and family heritage to explore new aesthetics and their artistic process. Gabriel Lovejoy’s work is currently on view in CAM’s exhibition State of the Art/Art of the State which participants will view with Lovejoy to discuss his piece following the screening. Join us for the final episode of the series: Wed. Nov. 5 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm “Fiction”. Art 21 season seven premieres nationally on PBS beginning Friday, October 24, check your local listings.
