WHATS IN YOUR WILL? Commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these command . . . repeat them again and again to your children. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NLT) What are you going to leave to the generation that you leave behind? When all is said and done, when everything is finally tallied, whats going to be in your will? Like most wills, theres probably going to be a lot of stuff thats going to rust and rot in due time . . . possessions that pass away along with the passing of time. There’s no avoiding that reality. But wouldnt it be wonderful to leave something behind for your children that they would be able to use for the rest of their lives? You can. How? By passing along the knowledge of the Scriptures to our children and anyone else who will be left behind once we pass away. Gods Word is the one thing that will never got stolen, be recalled, wear out, break down, or lose value: “People are like grass, their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.” (1 Peter 1:24-25 NLT) The Word of the Lord lasts forever, and so do the benefits of having it firmly planted in ones heart. If theres anything of value that we can impart to our descendents, its the eternal Word, and if theres one cause worth investing in, its the transmission of the Word to the next generation. Leave a biblical legacy. Pass your knowledge and understanding of the Bible down to those who will take up your torch once youve fallen. Repeat it again and again and again and again. Do it until the Lord determines to call you to Himself. Its the best thing that you can ever leave behind. Whats the value of a biblical legacy? What sort of legacy are you leaving? The Active Word
