WHATS ON MY MIND IS THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT: As an editorial in the NYT says, The opponents of the Affordable Care Act make no secret of their hatred for the law that has already provided health care to millions of low income people Is this because they think that only wealthy people should have health care? The editorial says, ...As . . .conservative scholar, Michael Green said in 2010, I do not care how this is done, whether it is dismembered, whether we drive a stake through its heart, whether we tar and feather it and drive it out of town, whether we strangle it The haters have brought before the District of Columbia Court a suit that claims that, tax-credit subsidies are allowed for those buying insurance on a health care exchange established by the state. Therefore no subsidies for people in the 36 states where the federal government set up the exchange because the sate refused to do so. This is an obvious perversion of congressional intent, upheld by two Republican appointed judges of a three-judge panel of the DC federal appeals court. Defenders of the ACA are suing to have the full appeals court rehear the suit. Opponents want it to go directly before SCOTUS. Lets hope that it follows normal procedure and goes before the full DC federal appeals court first.
