WHATS THIS THING ABOUT MEN OF GOD AND THEIR WAYWARD KIDS! There is so much about men of God: from management to leadership and all sorts as affect their callings. One thing stands them out even if all others are still in process of their ministries with God. That thing which serves as prove that they are called of God is the way their children are brought up; or to use a better language - trained. A man of God is also called a shepherd of flocks. Meaning, God brings people to him for them to be fed spiritually. If the Holy Spirit agrees, He makes them to also serve in the prophetic and teaching ministries. The bible says their calling into these offices are for the edification of the church. Why are some men of God children wayward? What makes them walk against the teachings of their anointed fathers? Below are my few personal observations: 1) The teachings of their fathers do not permeate unto them because their fathers dont spend adequate time in teaching them the bases of the Word of God. You may be wondering how is that possible? These children are expected to know and apply my teachings, after all they know Im the pastor, are thoughts of most men of God. 2) Most men of God do not COMMAND their children like Abraham did. This is what made God very proud of Abraham. God making boast of Abraham said, For I know him (Abraham), that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. ( Gen. 18:19 ) Do you see that! Until our men of God COMMAND their kids/wards to follow after God, serve and honour Him, nothing will become positive of their kids. 3) Their lifestyles: if the lifestyle of a man of God is contrary to his teachings, his children may perceive him as being unserious. So they may be under no obligation to follow God; because they may think God too is not serious. 4) Keeping things of the world in secrecy from them: keeping things that their mates enjoy in the world from them is not the right way. Let them know whats in the world and teach them why God hates the system by which the world operates making profound references to the Word of God. 5) Avoid being judgemental or a critic to the ungodly: Dont carry a holier than thou attitude towards those who are yet to embrace God before your children. Instead, let them see love you show to them (the ungodly) in wanting them to embrace the God you serve. Your kids will perceive themselves very opportune and look forward to share their GOD-LIKE faith to their friends and peers. Now, lets look at on how our men of God can make their children LOVE GOD and walk hitherto with Him all the days of their lives: 1) Men of God should prayerful and physically learn to study Gods Word with their children. Make the Word of God in your place of studies an interactive one. Let the kids ask questions of what they studied and never find answers before the interactive bible class. My father brought us up this way. When I ever begun schooling, my dad bought me a bible. I have a responsibility to study because I would be questioned or maybe called upon to teach yet my father was no pastor nor aspired to be one. It was a biblical lifestyle he studied and adopted. 2) Men of God should also encourage their children to read books outside their academics pursuits. Get them books that talks about God, spirituality and morals. Let them learn to see God from the perspectives of others. All these will form their foundation why they should get stuck with God even when their pastors parents are not with them.. 3) God should be portrayed as a humorous God. Kids should be excited talking about God. And this can be achieved when their fathers paint God the way He is in the bible. When you study Jesus life, He portrayed God the father in such a way that you want to have relationship with. 4) Let your total discussions about life be seen through the eyes of the scriptures. Bring samples and examples similarly to your discussions from Gods Word. This will make kids see the light of this world via the perspective of God. That is, they will view everything as God would. 5) Dont make mockery of men or women who seem to be victimized serving God before your kids. No natural child would want to follow the path of life where serving God is booed especially from his/her own parents. 6) Men of God should share testimonies with their kids of Gods goodness and faithfulness; all around benefits in staying put to God no matter what. The price of perseverance in waiting for God. All these and many more are ways men of God can assimilate to put their children to go after God and not be wayward as already been perceived by society. The scripture says, train up a child in the way he should GO when he is old, he will not depart from it.. The best way to know where a child should go in training him is for us (the parents) to be THERE first before the child get there. Remember: as an ambassador of God here on earth, the best way to preserve the good work youve begun in the vineyard of God is to ...teach faithful men who will be able to teach others also and that includes your biological kids. Abraham, David, Mama Timothy etc all left kids who took after them in serving God. Prophet Elis sons never regarded the things of God and God destroyed them. Eli died with them too. Cheers.
