WHATS WRONG WITH STRENGTH &FITNESS #2- Well another legendary super famous internet coach has given me more fuel for the fire...ok...Im all for special bars and special exercises WHEN YOU HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO DO THEM AND FOUND A NEED FOR THEM!! I do some off the wall stuff in balanced amounts because I have a big strength base in the basics and because the ones I do add to the basics. When Louie Simmons trained Chuck Vogehpol (sp) in a rolling experiment with bands, chains and live wildcats attached to special combinations of Nasa designed bars and bars recovered from ancient Viking burial sites for attempting to break world records it made sense and is cool. However if you are again a 200lb man not out squatting a 125lb lady and your using super experimental bars with multiple layers of bands, chains and kittens it is not ok. You have not done the work on the basics to need and deserve to do advanced work. You think you need to work on force vectors or whatever but what you need is more time with a basic bar doing real work to perfect the basic version of what your trying to do. The strongest men in the world may do some advanced crazy stuff but its because it helps them perfect the the basics which they are already the best at and are still working all the time to master. Even when your the most advanced you dont outgrow the basics. You dont put a 17yr old whos barely had a drivers license for a year behind the wheel of a Nascar.
