WHATS WRONG WITH US? There are some scenarios i just cant fathom. Unfortunately, these ones are real. 1. I was driving out of Victoria Island, and right in front of me as i negotiated the Bonny Camp roundabout on Ahmadu Bello Way, was this brand new Land Cruiser SUV painted leaf green. The number plate was NA ...something (partly covered by a round white leather insignia). If not for the registration number plate and an accompanying rickety escort pick-up truck with about 3 armed soldiers, in front of it, i wouldnt in my wildest dreams believe it was a military vehicle. Can somebody tell me what manner of soldiers ride in such exotic vehicles in the heart of the city? Has this penchant for ostentatious living gradually caught up with our military while still in office? What manner of soldiers are these? 2. While on the 3rd Mainland Bridge heading towards Iyana Oworo, i was innocently speeding to meet an appointment and tried to overtake a Coaster bus, only for the driver to block me. Then Policemen showed their faces through the windows and started raining insults on me. I then realized they were escorting 3 (CBN) trucks probably carrying money, and had therefore, held back traffic - no vehicle was allowed to overtake them until they got to their destination, moving at about 60 KPH. There was no siren or signage to alert motorists, yet every road user was supposed to know. I laughed at the poor unschooled policemen. At the same time, i sympathized with them because those in authority who are supposed to ensure their proper training, have embezzled all the funds. So, were left to contend with wild, agitated and uneducated men as law enforcers. The level of official corruption and disorder in Nigeria is already hitting the ceiling. Who will clear all these mess?
