WHEN INSTAGRAM JUST ISN’T INSTSA-ENOUGH. TAKING POLAROIDS WITH YOUR SMARTPHONE. Long ago, there were these things called Polaroid cameras. They were like normal cameras, but with built-in Instagram printers (more or less). Well, now some folks have made a gadget that produces Polaroid pictures wirelessly from your iPhone. The shaking is entirely optional (for those who remember). The French company behind the technology has been carefully building the case since early 2014, sourcing parts and developing prototypes to make a seamless instant photo experience for us all. Right now, the design only holds one sheet of paper at a time and takes about a minute to print a photo. However, they plan to go to market with a case that will hold at least ten sheets of paper and print them within half the time. The case has an accompanying camera app that you use to snap photos. One of the other special features of this app is that it records a video at the same time it takes a photo. You know that old prank where you’re actually on video instead of camera? Yep, the case pulls that prank on you, and then when you hold your printed photos in front of the camera, the video will actually start playing inside the app. They expect the phone case to be available through a Kickstarter next year, with early models costing about $99. One could argue what is the benefit of the case feature when you could just have a wireless printer, but we feel it’s more about the user experience and no pairing required.
