WHEN THE NORTH BECOMES INDEPENDENT WE SHOULD EXPECT THE FOLLOWING. 1. Northerners will need to have their own currency, constitution, hospitals, parliament, universities, banking systems, and all other vital boards that Malawians cherish collectively. DOES THE NORTHERN REGION HAVE THE CAPACITY TO PUT ALL THESE IN PLACE? I DOUBT IT! 2. Northerners working in the centre and south will be forced to retire and sent back home. Some of them have secured well paying jobs in the capital city the question would be will they leave their jobs to develop Bolero? I DOUBT IT! But surely no one from either the centre or south will allow them to stay. 3. Some Northerners have settled in areas like Nyambadwe, Namiwawa, 43, 47, 10 and have built themselves mansions in those areas, they have business empires in the centre and south, are they going to abandon all those to develop mchengautuwa? I DOUT IT! 4. Is Northern region ready to contain the growing threat of Tanzania, are northerners ready to defend the lake, our lake? I DOUT IT! 5. Will people from the south and centre accommodate or entertain northerners once the northern region becomes independent.? I DOUBT IT? Something similar to what happened in Rwanda in early 1990s is likely going to happen rìght here in Malawi because those from the south and centre wl not entertain northerners own anythng in the centre or south. 6. There are intermarriages going own btwn northerners and people from the other two regions, how are we going to define a northerner? Some quarters would be naive to think that the independence dwells on the political and economic platforms only but there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed adequately, a lot of areas wl be affected. 7. Our greatest economic sector is Agriculture. Does the north have enough flat lands for Agriculture? I DOUBT IT. 8. Twice Goodal Gondwe has been a minister of finance. He is the one who drafts the national budget (these people hardly consult). For starters, Gondwe is a northerner and yet it is the northern region that cries foul on the way resources are being distributed in this country. DO YOU THINK EDUCATED NORTHERNERS GIVE A DAMN ABOUT DEVELOPING THE NORTH! I DOUBT IT.
